Amarist Studio offers “Welcome?”, a lamp evoking the interior conflicts and moral dilemmas of the Western planet. A controversial piece that sparks dialogue about the new border walls.Display Whole Text
The refugee crisis, the Brexit, the foreseeable future designs of the President of the United States to construct a wall along the Mexican border and ban the entry of readers coming from quite a few Muslim countries… these are some of the activities that these days have tense the worldwide political climate. Influenced by these issues, Amarist Studio formed by designers Clara Campo and Arán Lozano from Barcelona, have made the decision to produce this resounding lamp titled “Welcome?”.
The piece is composed of a substantial base of white Carrara marble. Its shape resembles the traditional design of historic Greece and Rome, the cradle of civilization and the foundation of intellectual Europe.
On top of the base sits the lamp diffuser, safeguarding the mild source by a striking tangle of nº22 Razor Wire. The identical model of razor wire was applied to stop Syrian refugees from crossing the borders of Serbia and Hungary. The razor wire has been Gold plated in 24K gold, conceptualizing the economic borders.
