Varvara Vyslenko a practicing dentist, but photography takes up most of her life. Her favorite photos she calls those on whom there is love, and this warmth is imbued with all her work. About herself, self-development and attitude to public opinion, Varvara told our magazine.
About myself
I have a higher medical education, by profession I am a dentist - I have been practicing for many years. I like my work. And I always took pictures, especially on travels - like, probably, most people, dragged along with me a bag with a camera and a TV set. At that time, I was simply not reinforced by any kind of flair for a successful (in my view) frame.
I began to photograph really consciously after the birth of my children. Even the camera was updated before giving birth to the then-fresh Canon 60D. True, the lens still did not understand much.
Entrance to the world of photography for me was Instagram. I was simply amazed by the work of Elena Karneeva, and I quickly enrolled in online courses in photography for moms. I absorbed everything quickly, I got my homework, I burned shooting!
About genre
Definitely, my picture is creative. It has three main sections: family and childhood, self-portraits and another world.
About the criteria for a good photo
The criterion of a good photo is the second bottom. I always look for him in the photo. What is behind the imprint, what are the author's thoughts, models, image.
About inspiration
Inspiration is always there. You just have to stop driving somewhere. A rabid working rhythm kills inspiration. I stop - I just get up physically and look around. What is before me, where is the light, the sounds that inside are responding ... And it comes. It loves silence inside. Contemplation of picturesque works and nature helps a lot. By itself, drawing is also very fond of. I do not imagine photography in my life without painting.
About self-development
I know myself well: regular practice helps me, that is, shooting. Even if there is no mood, I take the camera and go to shoot. In the process comes and mood, and inspiration, and fuse. And I often study, and each time my teachers are different. I do not go around in circles in the same photo schools, where they drive the same tasks, but in different sequences. I watch a lot, I save myself what I liked. I'm trying to repeat it. If I feel that any lens and picture has worked, then I do not pull the rubber and quickly get rid of it.
About vision
I am sure that it is possible to develop a vision. To some it is given from above, but such people rarely use this gift: they are all easy and they do not apply it. Usually, all the same development begins when there is a daily practice plus visions. When a person looks back on the work of colleagues in order to learn themselves and see the mistakes, and not to compare themselves with someone more successful, to get rid of the grief of a doubtful failure and eventually stop shooting at all.
On public recognition
It is important for me to approve of my closest, closest people. If they liked it so much that it responded in something similar to my feelings from work, then I am calm and very happy. The rest is a nice bonus.
About your favorite pictures
Pictures that have love are my favorites. For example, the very first, the one where my daughter hugs our dog.
About victories in competitions
To me rare victories are important. Public opinion does not matter. There will always be those who like it and who do not like it. I do not think that there is a need to please everyone. I'm a sprinter by nature. I see the goal - I shoot, I got - it's great! I did not get it - I'll be upset, but not for long.
About the qualities necessary for a photographer
The photographer needs to trust the process and be observant. Still patient. But trust is more important!
About goals
One of my little goals is to win a mobile photography award (Barbara is the IPPAWARDS 2016 nominee for the topic CHILDREN.)
Do not laugh! Although no, you can laugh.
Technique: Sony Alfa a7 + Sony Zeiss 35mm f / 1.4 lens Exhibitions, awards, achievements: participant of the exhibitions Best International Family & Children Photo 2014 and 2015, finalist of the 35AWARDS 2016 prize in the nomination "Black and White Photography", "Children's Photography" and "Children's Portrait". Best advice: Listen to yourself and trust yourself.
