In 1930, Salvador Dali's father, unable to endure the blasphemous tricks of his son, exposed him from home, and a few months later the great surrealist bought a former fishing hut near the secluded village of Port Lligat on the Spanish coast of Costa Brava. He paid 20,000 francs, which he received from the Viscount de Noail as an advance for the painting "The Age of William Tell ".

Over the next four decades, Dali and his wife, the muse and model of Gala, bought up the houses standing next door. Villa turned into a surreal space with many labyrinths and extensions, which adorned works of art, reflecting the unique and obsessive ideas of genius. This place became the couple's favorite, it was here that Dali and Gala returned after long journeys in search of silence, pacification and inspiration. Dali admired this place and spent the best moments of life in the villa, but here, on June 10, 1982, Dali lost Gala, this day was the last in the love story of Salvador Dali to Port Lligata: after the death of his wife, the artist left his Mediterranean home forever.

In 1955, the photographer Charles Hewitt visited the house. He visited Dali to take a series of photographs for the forthcoming "Picture Post" (a reportage magazine published in the UK from 1938 to 1957), "One day with Salvador Dali."

The artist, who never missed the opportunity to glance in front of the public, boldly posed in front of the camera.
